Finally, the moment that all sports fans in the world were waiting for has arrived. The Premier League is back in action after 3 months of inactivity due to COVID-19. EPL returns with the 30th matchweek since that’s the one that was canceled due to the virus. However, two fixtures from the 29th matchweek were also canceled prior to the lockdown. We get to watch Aston Villa host Sheffield United and Manchester City welcoming Arsenal. These fixtures will be played on Wednesday before the EPL’s official return with the 30th round which happens this weekend. Nevertheless, we are going to focus this review on the weekend games and talk about the 3 most exciting fixtures of the 30th matchweek.
To start things off in the best possible way, we have Tottenham hosting Manchester United on Friday night. There is a strong rivalry between these sides and since both are fighting for a European spot, we are expecting a real spectacle. Liverpool
No one will be more happy that the Premier League is back than Liverpool fans. At one stage during the COVID-19 pandemic it seemed the season will be canceled and they wouldn’t be awarded the title. It would have been a shame for Liverpool not to lift the title after such an amazing season in the Premier League. They are 25 points above 2nd placed Manchester City which means nothing can stop them from winning the title. 30 years have passed since the Reds won the English top flight title. Their time has finally come and it will be even sweeter if the officially win it against their city rivals Everton. Even though it’s one of the oldest rivalries, Liverpool have had the upper hand over Everton for almost 10 years. Coach Klopp will like for things to remain that way and Liverpool will do their best to win.
Prediction
Before the lock-down, we would have considered Liverpool absolute favorites to win this fixture. However, these teams haven’t been playing football in 3 months. Injured players are back while some that were out of form might have found their “mojo”. On the other hand, certain players might have gained several pounds and lost their form. We can’t know anything until we see them on the field. That’s why we are going with a safer bet of Over 2.75 Goals @ 1.85 odds.

Manchester City are definitely losing the title but if they don’t improve, they can lose more than that. This means that clubs are eager to finish as high as possible because with City out of the picture even the 5th spot will take a team to the Champions League. If they drop more points, City might fall further down on the table. Such a thing is unacceptable for them. For that reason, Guardiola and his man will play to win every match from now on.
Burnley
Burnley are a side that has been doing extremely well in the Premier League so far. They are currently sitting right at the middle of the table, 4 points below a European spot. Burnley have been undefeated in the last 7 EPL fixtures, a streak that includes a 2:0 victory over Manchester United. However, if they are to challenge sides like Wolves, Tottenham, Sheffield, etc. for a European spot, Burnley need to get something from the match against Manchester City. Their quality pales in comparison to their opponents but the visitors pride themselves on team play and defensive maneuvering. They haven’t beaten Manchester City in 5 years but they did hold them to a draw back in 2018. We are sure Burnley will be expecting such a result come Monday night.
